Commercial Spray Foam Roofing

Spray foam is created by combining two components: A-side (isocyanate) and B-side (polyol).  The two components are combined at a 1 to 1 mixture through a pump and applied with a spray gun at a constant temperature. As it is applied, the reaction of blending the two together captures gas molecules within the foam, making it very effective at insulating the roof, and creating an air and waterproof barrier.

Spray Foam Benefits

  • Seamless: Polyurethane foam is applied as a liquid,(which instantly expands) it creates a single continuous monolithic membrane that covers the entire roof. There are no seams or joints, therefore none of these common areas exist with foam where the majority of traditional roofs leak.

  • FlexibleFoam can be sprayed onto existing roofing systems or virtually any surface irregularly shaped. Particularly useful on commercial building where many HVAC risers, vents, pipes and other penetrations through the roof exist. Since it is also self-flashing, you can eliminate the need for costly metal flashing materials.

  • LightweightFoam roofing typically weighs substantially less than other commercial roof systems. This is huge cost saving advantage to the design teams and eliminates the need for additional structural support.
  • Thermal Insulation: Spray Foam is among the best option when it comes to conforming to the ever-strict R-Values required by building codes in many areas for commercial construction.

  • Sustainability: Foamed roofs require a minimum of upkeep, which translates into less repair and waste over the life-cycle of the system. No tear-off required (avoiding costly land-fill fees) possibly some patch repair and a fresh top-coat.

  • Cool Roofing /Solar Reflectance: Cool Roofs are Energy Star compliant and reflect the suns energy from your roof which reduces heat and thermal bridging. This translates into lower utility costs and energy savings with HVAC equipment downsizing. Studies have shown that foam roofing can produce an energy savings up to 45% when compared to other roofing systems.

  • Repair & MaintenanceFoam Roofing requires very little by way of maintenance.  Visually inspecting the roof and keeping it clean of vegetation and debris will avoid most preventable issues and a formal roof inspection may not be needed years. The protective top coating may be reapplied depending on the overall condition. Should the foam roof become damaged repair is generally isolated to that area and fixed with a simple patch repair procedure.

Coatings

To protect SPF from moisture, foot traffic, and ultraviolet rays from the sun, a top coating is required. Damage is prevented from any of these elements with a protective coating that seals and prolongs the life of the foam.

Benefits:

  • Save the Foam (sacrificial layer resilient to storm damage)-Elastomeric Acrylic coatings bounce back after impact.

  • Energy Efficiency/Urban Heat Islands-solar reflectance lower utility costs

  • Preserve the roofing system with refresh top coating application (No tear-off required)
